Summer Reading - Beat the Slide
The summer holidays are just around the corner which means no uniforms to wash and no school lunches to pack but also the threat of the summer slide – the fear that when kids go on holidays their brains do too, and they forget some of what they learnt at the end of term by the start of the next school year.
We want to see if we can beat this summer slide or even improve our reading!
We are asking all parents from Primary 4 – 6 to come along and take part in one workshop on Paired Reading. After that we challenge you to read at 5 times a week for 10 minutes each time with your child. After the workshop you will have an opportunity to try out the strategy with your child in school. Please choose which session you can come to below. If you can’t attend either, please specify another day and time.
Please check bags for letters this week and sign up to support your child. Times on offer are:
Wednesday 20th June
Thursday 21st June
I can attend neither. Please indicate a day or time that would be suitable.
